Huffington Post Censorship: Arianna Can't Have It Both Ways!

It appears that the Huffington Post is censoring what people post if it looks badly on their website. Recently, I made a post in the comment section concerning Deepak Chopka’s article on genes

Deepak has a MD but reverts to mysticism in writing about science. He is considered a joke in the scientific community. I didn’t use foul language and I didn’t attack him personally. What I said was that he proves you should be required to get a PhD in Biology before you go for a MD.

I also stated that other writers in the column section including Robert Kennedy Jr. have also made misstatements about science and that both of these people reflect poorly on the credibility of the website. Huffington Post has been caught in this trap before and appears not ready for prime time when it comes to criticisms. I posted another comment about a recent column Chopka wrote but I won’t hold my breath waiting to see it on the website.

Arianna Huffington likes to complain about the Bush Administration on all fronts especially the lack of science in the running of the country but the door swings both ways. Chopka is a standing joke and when she gives him space to write his destructive column as an excuse for science, she is no better than the Bush Administration. The sad part is that it appears that no one overseeing the website ever reads these columns before posting them to check for accuracy. And that’s the problem because in the political arena you can say anything you want and get away with it but in the scientific community accuracy and validity are prerequisites,

To put it bluntly the columns by Chopka serve as disinformation whether Arianna knows it or not. They don’t educate the public they confuse it. The United States is a semi-literate nation. We are a scientifically illiterate nation and Chopka and Arianna are contributing to that sad state of affairs rather than helping to fix the problem.

Thanks for posting that. Today I figured out that all my anti-CNN, anti-Obama (he is favoring some shockingly big biz baloney), etc posts were censored out of the comments following Shearer's blog. It really depressed me to see huffpo itself so guilty of this practice. Susan

I've always wondered about the Huffington Post. I already have issues with their articles and columns on the Olympics. To see it extend into other areas makes me very wary, and I don't go over there often.

they do the same thing at Crooks and Liars. Someone posted about the anthrax attacks and was immediately threatened. I responded saying that there was no need to make veiled threats against him. Several people agreed. All posts were deleted and we received ad hominem attacks from the sitemonitor.

here's the link: it starts @ 13

Come over to Raw Story. Nothing gets censored. There are some delays sometimes and you have to put up with some pretty harsh comments. But, I've never witnessed a more honest and intelligent group of people.

Yes, Crooks and Liars censors too. Huffpo censors.

I had several comments pulled in the last couple of days. None of it violated their own terms of service. I have since been banned from commenting and had my profile removed. I started a blog about this at http://www.thehuffingtonpull.blogspot.com

Please use the digg feature on the right on my blog if you have a digg account to help get more attention to this issue.

He is considered a joke in the scientific community.

And the 'scientific community is a joke in estoeric circles.

Look at the condition of the earth and tools of destruction developed and you will see who the real joke is.

Who has the longest history and the least amount of impact on the environment... etc..etc..?

I am guessing removing the posts made by you lot would be a good thing.

The HuffingtonPost often censors anything that doesn't fit into their political agenda.

It really is an outrage.

I'm the bad boy of the internet having been banned from KOS, CommonDreams and now just this week (7/4/2009) on Huff'n'Puff. Huffington not only deleted my profile but pulled 85,000 words of commentary over the last 5 months out of each of the conversation threads so that I like --never existed! I completely disappeared. People in conversations with me appear to be talking and reacting to a ghost. I'm the "nearly headless Nick" of cyberspace. Just like a Korean Government official who is photo-shopped out of an official photograph.

The problem seems to stem from moderators who operate out of the identity politics realm and are determined to stop any criticism of their pet cause. It is especially impossible to discuss Israel, Immigration, or the sacrosanct Michael Jackson in anything but glowing terms.

So we might assume that the perps may be pedophile immigrant Zionazis?

There was a 'joke' that Huffpo must have outsourced their censoring to Tel-Aviv.

But it might be more of an educated guess, because suddenly they had all these politically aware censors who were catching obscure references to politically very dated events. And/or be old geezer British Zionists?

i.e. Sabra-Shatila, Sharon, Allan Francovich, The Maltese Double Cross, Iran-Contra, Vincent Cannistraro etc, etc.

In the Lockerbie articles, posts made Friday evening lasted all the way through to late Saturday PST. Which is early AM Sunday in the 'Eastern Mediteranean'.

Who takes their day of rest on Saturdays there???

Wow, Huffpo is completely censoring my opinion. I said that "having a religious section is like having a Peter Pan section, except to spread news about what the religious people are doing and how it's so silly. I can't help but continue to visit this section to see what they come up with next"... that deserves deletion. It's ok for the religious to say anything they want in comments, about anything at all, and voice their opinion.

I was at Huffington Post near when it first began. The censorship started around the time of the Yacomink-Peter Rost scandal and Clooneygate.

Before then, it was pretty much anything goes.

I have been at the forefront trying to expose Brad Friedman's deep ties to notorious ex-felon Brett Kimberlin and hoaxes centered around election fraud.

One such hoax has been the "Michael Connell threatened by Karl Rove" one. Back in 2009, I successfully posted on an entry critical of Larisa Alexandrovna. More recently I attempted to post on a Brad Friedman thread. That one was outright censored, and I was banned.

For a new entry of mine, I wanted to link to my 2009 post concerning Alexandrovna and the Michael Connell hoax. It's been deleted. The link is not available through the wayback machine. I searched for my username, and it now reads, "This profile has been removed. Go to the home page."

My theory is insidious, internet astroturfers offered to moderate Huffington Post and have taken it over. Personally, I haven't gone to Huff Post too much the last couple years, as it tends to take too long for the pages to load, and we all know how irrelevant many of the articles tend to be.

I advise folks seek out the most credible examples of censorship. The "dark side" will probably attempt to astroturf their censorship as appropriate. This is how it's been done at the blogs which used to get the traffic Arianna does, e.g. The Daily Kos.

Well, after writing a few critical comments of Ervin Laszlo and Deepak Chopra which got erased, I sent an email to info@huffingtonpost.com asking for an explanation. The following day, my account was removed and all my comments erased. It seems the HP really likes to keep its gurus safe from scrutiny. I posted two blog entries on this and I have still two to go. You can see them here: http://theradicalsecularist.com

The Huff Post has become a dumping ground for conservative propaganda. There is currently an article titled,"14 Days to Go and the President is Killing Democrats"e

This article was written by Steve Lombardo of Lombardo consulting. His client list includes the RNC - yes, the Repbublican National Committee! - and Romney for President as well as a bevy of pharmaceutical companies. The full list is here http://lombardoconsultinggroup.com/profile_pages/clients.html

I tried a number of times to Post this on HP and, in the end, instead of allowing the truth to be told, they suspended my account.

This is not the first time that Arianna has given voice to her corporate friends and I am beginning a blog at www.HuffingtonToast.com to expose this censorship and get to the bottom of their motives.

NONE of my comments concerning the hypocrisy of liberals criticizing Chris Lee after how they bent over backwards to forgive Bill Clinton and Barney Franks - were allowed at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/11/yesha-callahan-chris-lee-craigslist_n_821858.html

Huffpo censors are a bunch of Nazis.
